FAQ about itr for investors and capital gains

Do you handle US stocks and RSUs?

Yes. We compute gains in INR at SBI TT buying rates, report Schedule FA and FSI, and claim DTAA credit for US tax withheld.

What is the last date to file ITR for AY 2026-27?

For individuals not requiring audit, 31 July 2026. Audit cases have until 31 October 2026. A belated or revised return can be filed until 31 December 2026 with a late fee under section 234F of ₹5,000 (₹1,000 if total income is up to ₹5 lakh).

What documents do I need for ITR filing?

PAN, Aadhaar, Form 16 (salaried), Form 26AS and AIS, bank interest certificates, capital gains statements from brokers or mutual fund RTAs, rent receipts if claiming HRA, and proofs for 80C, 80D and home loan interest if you use the old regime.

Can I file ITR without Form 16?

Yes. Your salary slips, bank credits and AIS together give the same information. Your expert reconciles these to prepare the return.

Which ITR form applies to me?

ITR-1 for salary plus one house property and interest up to ₹50 lakh income. ITR-2 if you have capital gains, more than one property, or are an NRI. ITR-3 for business or F&O income. ITR-4 for presumptive income under 44AD or 44ADA. The plan finder above recommends the right one.
